Description

Agroecological pest management system for maize and sorghum in which desmodium (which repels the stemborer and suppresses striga weed) is intercropped with the cereal, and Napier or Brachiaria grass is planted on the border as a trap crop. Developed by icipe with Rothamsted Research and disseminated in western Kenya. The climate-smart version uses drought-tolerant Greenleaf desmodium and Brachiaria cv Mulato.
