Sustainable Milpa in the Yucatan Peninsula

Description

Participatory innovation project that works with Maya maize farmers in the Yucatan Peninsula to make the milpa system more productive and sustainable without losing its cultural foundation. It combines conservation agriculture, agroecological pest and weed management, integrated soil fertility, safeguarding of native seeds and market linkages, using five-station demonstration plots and a co-innovation and social inclusion strategy.
