Patsari stove: improved wood-burning cookstoves (GIRA)

Description

Innovation and social appropriation of technology program that developed, disseminated and evaluated the Patsari stove, an improved wood-burning stove with a chimney that reduces firewood consumption (~50%) and vents smoke out of the home (~70% less indoor air pollution). Born in the P'urhépecha region of Michoacán, it spread to other states through programs linked to the carbon market. It has a health impact evaluation through a randomized controlled trial.
