01 The context
Joint liability groups (JLGs) of women, many landless, lease and farm land in common, accessing credit, inputs and markets collectively. Around 61,836 JLGs and ~280,000 women farm approx. 38,706 hectares. Bina Agarwal's research showed they significantly outperform the net returns of individual farms.
