DIKSHA - national digital infrastructure for school education

Description

India's national school education platform (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing), launched in September 2017 and operated by NCERT/CIET under the Ministry of Education. Built on Sunbird, open source infrastructure (MIT license) seeded by EkStep Foundation. Adopted by 35+ states and territories: multilingual content repository, QR-energized textbooks and large-scale teacher training (NISHTHA). As of June 2026 it reports 22.5 million users and 5.75 billion learning sessions. It was the backbone of remote learning during COVID-19.
