Nashira ecovillage

Description

Self-sustaining ecovillage in Palmira (Valle del Cauca) built by and for women heads of household, many of them victims of the armed conflict or of domestic violence. The women built their houses with recycled materials (rubble panels, ecological bricks), operate their own water systems, organic farming, community recycling (a recycling plant, the village's most profitable business) and dozens of productive units, with a gift economy and consensus decision-making. It combines circular economy, decent housing, adaptation and women's empowerment.
