Each household makes a one-time investment (~2,000-2,500 EUR, refundable) and pays a monthly fee. The first Herenboerderij started in Boxtel in 2016; by 2026 there are ~23-25 farms feeding more than 9,000 people. In June 2025 the national foundation (Stichting Herenboeren NL) went bankrupt; the local farms, which are independent, kept operating and coordination passed to the Vereniging van Herenboerderijen.● Scaled· scale national
