01 The context
Evaluated with an RCT in Delhi (Muralidharan, Singh and Ganimian, AER 2019): it improved scores across all groups (0.37 sigma in mathematics, 0.23 in Hindi in 4.5 months) and proved cost-effective. As of 2026, Ei reports 310,000+ students in India, South Africa, Zambia and Cambodia, with a two-year RCT underway led by IDinsight.
