In 2024 the #SumemosVoces Deliberative Assembly gathered 60 citizens selected by lot (25 Sep 2024) out of 51,163 invited, who deliberated from 18 to 21 October 2024.Kerala People's Plan CampaignIn 1996 the Kerala State Planning Board launched the People's Plan Campaign, transferring about 35-40% of the state plan's development budget to 1,214 local governments (panchayats and municipalities). Citizens identify needs and prioritize projects in gram sabhas and development seminars with trained facilitators: the most ambitious exercise in decentralized participatory planning and budgeting in the subcontinent.Wikipolitica (and its transformation into the Futuro party)Citizen movement that emerged from a split of #YoSoy132, organized in Jalisco around 2014, which sought to give politics new meaning through horizontal, collaborative and austere structures. Its milestone was the independent candidacy of Pedro Kumamoto, the first independent local deputy elected in Mexico (Jalisco, 2015). After the failure of its candidacies in 2018, it became institutionalized: it founded the Futuro party in Jalisco (registered Sep 2020). In the elections of June 2, 2024, Futuro obtained 1.81% of the valid vote (66,757 votes), below the 3% threshold; the IEPC Jalisco declared the loss of registration and dissolution on November 28, 2024.G1000 citizen summits (Netherlands)Deliberative citizen summits in which hundreds or even a thousand randomly selected residents (sortition) of a municipality gather for a day to discuss the future of their city and formulate proposals for the local government. Inspired by the Belgian G1000 of David Van Reybrouck (2011), the Dutch version started in Amersfoort on March 22, 2014 (630 participants) and was replicated in dozens of municipalities. It is organized by Stichting G1000.nu, independent from the government but a partner of the municipalities. It remains active: in 2024 the G1000 Burgerberaad of Schagen gathered ~250-320 citizens, and in 2026 the Burgerberaad Hellendoorn (concluded June 13, 2026).
